Together with our project partner Menschen für Menschen we are implementing an extensive water project to ensure long-term access to clean drinking water for numerous families.
The laying of the water pipes began in June. This is a key step towards bringing clean water directly to households in the future. What is particularly pleasing is the high level of participation by the local population. Many families actively supported the measures, both through their own efforts and financial contributions. An excavator was rented to carry out the work efficiently.
In addition to technical implementation, the focus is also on education. Hygiene measures are taught in training courses in order to improve the health of the village community in the long term. The combination of infrastructure and awareness-raising is essential to reduce diseases such as diarrhea or parasite infestation in the long term.
Another positive effect is that access to water on site relieves the burden on women and girls in particular, who previously had to walk for hours every day to water points, some of which were contaminated. This leaves them more time for school, work and family duties. An important step towards more equal opportunities.
We would like to thank all our supporters for making this project possible and are delighted with the visible progress made for the people of Busa.
