Access to education is a fundamental right – but for many girls in rural regions of Kenya, attending school remains a daily challenge. Long, often dangerous journeys to school, a lack of infrastructure and family obligations mean that many schoolgirls are unable to complete their schooling. To change this, we have launched a new project: The construction of a boarding school for girls at Eroret Preparatory School in Loodoriak, Kenya.
Until now, many pupils at Eroret Preparatory School have had to walk several hours a day to attend lessons.
With the new accommodation for 50 girls, we are creating a safe and supportive place of learning where they can learn undisturbed, develop and prepare for their future.

Construction of the boarding school has already begun and should be completed in the course of 2025. The first girls will then be able to move in and live directly on the school grounds.

The school is run by John Kintalel, a Maasai who was one of 13 siblings and the only one allowed to go to school. Together with his wife Esther and a strong team of teachers, he runs the school.
