Austrian Doctors on a relief mission

We support worldwide

Austrian Doctors is a globally active Austrian aid organization founded in Salzburg in 2008. We focus our work on medical aid and education and are committed to helping people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, social status, religion, nationality or political opinion.
Our target group is people in need in "chronic crisis areas" without access to medical aid and education. Our medical claim is medicine for the poor. Medical aid includes measures to improve the local infrastructure, e.g. building wells for clean drinking water. We also support children and adults through school and training projects with the aim of enabling them to lead a self-determined life in their own country. In our projects, we work closely with local partners. This creates the opportunity for decades of sustainable development.

Our educational projects

The Austrian Doctors support educational projects. In this way, we give children and adults the chance to lead a self-determined life in their own country. An excerpt from our educational projects:

Manda School in Bangladesh

For many people, education is the best way to build a better future. This is why Austrian Doctors has been supporting schools in the underprivileged areas of Dhaka for over 30 years. The largest school is the Manda School with around 1,200 children.

St. Francis Assisi School in India

Nearly 40 years ago, Brother Ephrem had the dream of creating a school for the poorest children in the poor sister city of Calcutta, Howrah. After 35 years, the demand is still very high.

Mary Hill Nursery School in Kenya

The Nursery School in Awasi, Kenya, is a daycare center for the youngest children in the area. The children can be carefree and safe here, are allowed to play and are supervised by trained teachers.

Our medical projects

Everyone has the right to medical care. That is why we are committed to providing basic medical care for the poor. Free medicines are part of our services.

Medical Center in Bangladesh

Our new medical project opened on the first floor of our training center in Dhaka in February 2023. It treats up to 300 patients a week and has its own pharmacy.

Medical Project in India

Together with our partner organization Kamina Social Welfare Society, we provide medical care for those who no one else can help. In addition to general health checks, eye and dental check-ups are also offered in these camps.

Medical Projects in Kenya

The issue of inadequate basic medical care is a major concern in Kenya. Some of the biggest challenges include HIV, malnutrition, malaria, and FGM – to name just a few. At both of our project sites in Kenya, we are therefore also actively engaged in providing medical support.

School meals for children

Malnourished children are particularly susceptible to infections. In our schools, we therefore provide children with nutritious meals to strengthen their immune system.
