Further development of medical work in Bangladesh

Our goal is to elevate our medical work in Bangladesh to a higher level. Therefore, in 2025, new locations were rented and set up for our “Mobile Clinic".

At the Khilgaon site, premises on the ground floor of a residential building were rented and equipped with modern sanitary facilities (one for patients and one for staff). In Gandaria, three additional rooms were rented beneath the school so that the medical project and school lessons can take place in parallel. At our location in the Korail slum, medical work is carried out in the school courtyard or the rear part of the school building—the consultation hours are scheduled so that they do not interfere with classes. All three locations will now be equipped with new examination beds, fixed oxygen cylinders, and similar equipment to ensure even better care.

Our Medical Center in Manda, which is located on the lowest floor of our training center, will be further equipped starting in early 2026. The planned acquisitions include a high-quality ultrasound machine, an ECG device, a clinical biochemistry analyzer, a hematology analyzer, and more. The goal is to be able to carry out more diagnostic examinations directly at our Medical Center in Manda and to establish a small laboratory, enabling us to perform in-house analyses of blood, stool samples, and similar tests. In the long term, this will allow us to save money, as the costs for external examinations and sample analyses will be eliminated. The laboratory, which will of course be equipped with air conditioning, will employ a dedicated laboratory technician who will be able to analyze samples from both our Medical Center and all Mobile Clinic locations promptly and cost-effectively.

In addition to the two Bangladeshi doctors who have been employed for some time, we were able to hire a gynecologist at the beginning of November, who now holds daily afternoon consultations at the Medical Center.

All of these investments contribute to further raising the standard of our medical work.

The local team on site is supported by volunteer doctors from Austria and across Europe. If you are also interested in getting involved, you can find more information on our “Volunteer Doctor Program” page or feel free to contact us at office@austrian-doctors.at or +43 664 150 7888.
