Charity Day at the Gymnasium Füssen

Over €10,000 raised for educational projects in Bangladesh.

With great commitment, creative ideas, and exceptional generosity, Gymnasium Füssen held its traditional Charity Day on November 18 in support of its partner schools in Bangladesh. In a short amount of time, donations totaling over €10,000 were raised—an impressive testament to the strong sense of community and social responsibility of the entire school family.

In the afternoon, the festively decorated assembly hall, classrooms, and corridors of the school were bustling with activity. Numerous classes had prepared sales booths, games, interactive activities, and a varied culinary program with great creativity. Whether handmade items, sporting activities, musical performances, or international delicacies—people joined in enthusiastically, selling, participating, and donating everywhere.

As in previous years, Severin Schwaiger from Austrian Doctors was present again this year. He reported on the ongoing projects in Bangladesh and exchanged ideas with teachers and the school administration. His presence once more highlighted the close and trusting partnership between Gymnasium Füssen and the aid projects in Dhaka.

Together with the second Charity Day at Gymnasium Füssen — the so-called “Sweat Day”—a total of €26,000 was transferred to Austrian Doctors this year.

For more than two decades, the school has supported three educational institutions in the slums of Dhaka, as well as medical aid programs run by Austrian Doctors. The donations provide, among other things, hot meals, teaching materials, basic medical care, and vocational training courses for young people.

All proceeds from the Charity Day go directly to the partner schools as well as the training center opened in 2023. There, young people receive hands-on training in areas such as sewing, cosmetics, electrical engineering, and IT. With just around nine Euros per month, a child’s education can be secured—an investment that creates lasting opportunities for the future in Dhaka.

Since the project began, more than €540,000 has been raised in total. The 2025 Charity Day continues this success story with its impressive results, demonstrating how much can be achieved when a school community takes responsibility together.
