Review of the “One Mile for a Smile” charity run

Over 60 charity runners were at the start for Austrian Doctors

On Saturday, May 18, the charity run “One Mile for a Smile” took place as part of the Salzburg Running Festival. This year, Austrian Doctors was selected as a charity partner for the first time. This meant a variety of opportunities for us:

– Start numbers with our logo were printed and handed out in exchange for donations

– Austrian Doctors were represented at the SportMall in the Volksgarten with an information stand

– Our banner was placed along the route

In addition to the charity partners, sporting goods manufacturers were also represented at the sports fair. As all participants had to pick up their race numbers at this fair, there was already a large crowd on Friday. In addition to many conversations, we were also able to report on our work on stage at the Speakers Corner, i.e. in interview form.

Fortunately, the weather gods were also kind to us on Saturday and so, after another successful day at the trade fair, we were able to provide our charity runners with Austrian Doctors race numbers. The motto “One Mile for a Smile” gives an idea of the distance and the idea behind the run. The focus was on moving together, and the approach to timekeeping was almost Olympic: being there was the most important thing on this day.

The route, two laps of the Volksgarten, was completed by most of the participants on foot, but there were also people in wheelchairs. Some also completed the course piggyback and there were also walkers. The atmosphere was great, and after the run and the bite test to see if the medals were really made of gold, there was time for a chat.

We would like to thank the organizers of the event very much for the invitation and support for this event! And of course we would also like to thank our more than 60 runners who made this race an unforgettable experience for us.
