Review of “One Mile for a Smile” on May 11, 2024

This year was our 6th time as a charity partner for the integration run of the running festival in the city of Mozart. Here is a short review of the "One Mile for a Smile" run 2024.

On Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11, we were represented with an information stand at the sports fair in the ice arena in Salzburg’s Volksgarten. At our stand, we had many conversations with interested runners and were able to give them a deeper insight into what we do. We also had the opportunity to present the Austrian Doctors on stage. For the first time, the organizer’s competition also included questions about the charity partners – including Austrian Doctors. For example, the winners knew that it costs 9 euros a month for a child to attend school in Bangladesh or that around 3,000 schoolchildren attend our schools every year.

On Saturday at 6:30 p.m., however, the highlight of the weekend from our point of view arrived – the starting signal for the “One Mile for a Smile” run. This year’s running team consisted of almost 30 runners aged between five and 78. However, the focus of this wonderful event is on taking part rather than the time run. So it’s almost an Olympic event!

After two laps of the Volksgarten, the runners crossed the finish line happy and all agreed that they would be back again next year!

If you would also like to take part in the “One Mile for a Smile” run for Austrian Doctors in 2025, you are welcome to contact us at any time! Our motto in 2025 will once again be: Lace up your running shoes and do good!
