In Bangladesh we are active in the capital Dhaka and in the rural region of Gazipur.
For more than 30 years almost 2,000 pupils a year have been receiving not only education but also a warm, nutritious lunch in the schools of our partner organization.
At our training center in Dhaka young adults have the opportunity to do different vocational trainings.
With the help of local doctors we provide medical care including medicine for the poor population. Since 2024 the medical projects have once again been supported by volunteer medical staff from Austria.
Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world with around 170 million inhabitants. The country was repeatedly hit by environmental disasters such as floods and cyclones and the sea is reclaiming the land bit by bit. In addition, pollution from the many large factories is a huge problem.
Every day countless people from rural regions come to the cities in search of work and a better future. The dream only comes true for a few – most of them have to live in the poor areas, often in inhumane conditions. As day laborers they earn just enough to survive. Children often have to contribute to the household income.
We focus on education in order to improve people’s lives. Both children and young adults are given the tools for a better future. Our medical projects also improve people’s health.
Our social workers and Rain Workers promote health, children’s rights and education in Kenya through awareness-raising, home visits and personal support, giving families new opportunities and hope for the future.
Arriving in Dhaka early in the morning, in the smog of the first rays of sunlight, had something truly special about it.
