Together for a Greener Future: Tree Planting Activity at Korail School
Environmental awareness begins at a young age. At Korail School in Bangladesh, environmental protection was not only discussed but also put into practice: students and teachers planted a variety of plants on the school grounds, making their school a little greener.
Planting Together and Taking Responsibility
In May, a joint planting activity took place at Korail School. Under the guidance and supervision of Sheela Moni, the students and their teachers planted various plants in pots on the school grounds.
The children actively participated in the activity with great enthusiasm. Together, they planted while also learning about why trees and plants are so important for our environment.
This not only created a greener and more attractive school environment, but also turned the planting activity into a practical lesson on environmental protection and sustainability.
Hands-On Environmental Education
Education means more than learning in the classroom. Children should also have the opportunity to become more aware of their environment and learn that they themselves can contribute to protecting it.
This is exactly where the planting activity comes in: instead of only learning about environmental and climate protection in theory, the students were able to take action themselves. They experienced firsthand how they could create something new with their own hands.
Such experiences can help children develop an awareness of the importance of treating nature and the environment responsibly from an early age.
Planting Today, Taking Responsibility Tomorrow
The activity is therefore also guided by a long-term vision: today’s children are the ones who will help shape the future of Bangladesh.
If they learn during their school years why trees, plants, and a healthy environment are important, they can pass this knowledge on—to their families and communities, and later to society as a whole.
Our local partners hope that the students will grow into responsible adults who are committed to protecting the environment and raising awareness among others about its importance.
Small Plants with a Big Message
The planting activity at Korail School shows how classroom learning and practical experience can go hand in hand. A relatively small activity can convey an important message: everyone can contribute to a greener and healthier future.
For the students, this contribution began right on their own school grounds—with soil, young plants, and the shared joy of making their surroundings a little greener.
