A Classroom Without Walls: Eroret School Goes on a Journey of Discovery<\/h3>

For many children at Eroret School, it was a day of firsts: leaving their familiar surroundings for the first time, visiting Nairobi for the first time, and, for some, even seeing an airplane take off and land up close for the very first time. In mid-July, a total of 154 students set off on a special educational trip. Their itinerary included the National Museum, the Snake Park, and Wilson Airport. It was a trip that brought classroom learning to life while also opening up new perspectives for the future. <\/p>

Learning Outside the Classroom<\/h5>

On July 13 and 14, 2026, 154 students from grades 2 to 9, aged between eight and 16, exchanged their classroom for a day full of new experiences. Seven teachers accompanied the children and young people on each day. Members of the school board also joined the excursion. <\/p>

The trip began as early as 7 a.m. and lasted until 5 p.m. For many of the students, it was their first major trip outside their home region\u2014and their first visit to Nairobi. <\/p>

The three destinations were carefully chosen to connect directly with what the children had previously learned in class: social studies and history at the National Museum, science and species conservation at the Snake Park, and career guidance at Wilson Airport. <\/p>

In this way, theoretical knowledge suddenly became something the students could see and experience for themselves.<\/p>

Fossils, Pythons and Airplanes<\/h5>

The students spent around three hours at the National Museum. Many were particularly impressed by the fossils and the remains of early humans. History they had previously learned about in the classroom suddenly became tangible. <\/p>

The students then spent about an hour at the Snake Park, where the large pythons and other reptiles were a particular source of excitement. At the same time, the children learned more about reptiles and the importance of species conservation. <\/p>

Another highlight awaited the students at Wilson Airport. For two hours, they had the opportunity to explore the world of aviation. For many of them, it was the first time they had ever seen an airplane take off and land up close. <\/p>

It is therefore no surprise that three things in particular remained popular topics of conversation after the trip: airplanes, giant pythons, and reptiles.<\/p>

And for some, the experience even inspired a very specific career aspiration: \u201cI want to be a pilot!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>

When Classroom Learning Inspires Dreams for the Future<\/h5>

This is precisely what makes educational trips like this so valuable: students experience how what they learn in the classroom also plays a role in the world beyond school. At the same time, they discover new places and career opportunities they have had little exposure to in their everyday lives. A visit to a museum can spark an interest in history, while a trip to the airport may inspire the dream of becoming a pilot one day. <\/p>

Many students at Eroret School come from disadvantaged families and rarely have the opportunity to travel. Experiences like these open up new perspectives, spark curiosity, and build self-confidence. Above all, they show the children the possibilities their future can hold. <\/p>

Made Possible Together<\/h5>

The educational trip was funded through contributions from the parents. Each student contributed 1,600 Kenyan shillings, covering transportation and entrance fees. This made it possible for the children to spend an entire day learning outside the classroom and gaining new experiences together. Members of the school board also accompanied the students on their trip to Nairobi. <\/p>

A Journey That Broadens Horizons<\/h5>

After a long day, the students returned home with many new impressions. What remains are not only memories of fossils, pythons, and airplanes. <\/p>

The trip showed the children that learning can take place anywhere\u2014in a museum, while observing animals, or right beside a runway. Above all, it gave them a glimpse into a world that, for many of them, had previously seemed far away. <\/p>

Education is not only about imparting knowledge. It is also about showing children the opportunities that lie ahead and encouraging them to dream big, regardless of where they come from. <\/strong><\/p>
